‘Kabaddi 5’ Set for Strong Box Office Opening Across Nepal

KATHMANDU- Nepali film ‘Kabaddi 5’ is projected to make a strong box office debut during the Dashain holiday period, with advance ticket sales indicating high demand ahead of its nationwide release on Friday.

Directed by Rambabu Gurung and starring Dayahang Rai, the film has secured 230 shows across Nepal for Friday. Advance booking trends recorded through Thursday evening suggest it is heading for a strong opening at the domestic box office.

By comparison, ‘Chha Maya Chhapakkai 2’ has 116 shows scheduled for Friday, ‘Aa bata Aama 2′ has 112 and ’12 Gaun 2′ has 60. The number of shows allocated to ’12 Gaun’ 2 has dropped sharply.

As the fifth instalment of a popular and established franchise, ‘Kabaddi: After the Final Match’ has generated considerable anticipation among moviegoers. The rapid pace of advance bookings further indicates strong audience interest ahead of its release.

Almost all shows appear to be sold out in cities including Kathmandu, Pokhara, Butwal and Chitwan in central Nepal, as well as Damak and Itahari in the eastern part of the country.

However, occupancy appears lower in western cities, including Nepalgunj, compared with eastern Nepal.

Distributors have said the film will also be released on Friday in Gulf countries and in 40 cities across the United States, alongside its release in Nepal.
