KATHMANDU – A 20-member team of lawmakers from the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), led by party General Secretary Bipin Acharya, is set to visit China.
At the invitation of the Communist Party of China, the team will leave for China on November 15. Leaders of the party said the lawmakers will conduct field observation visits to various Chinese cities for 10 days and take part in some programmes.
The names of General Secretary Acharya and lawmakers Lima Adhikari, Samikshya Bastola, Hari Dhakal and Sagar Dhakal have been finalised for the team. A list of lawmakers wishing to join the visit is currently being prepared.
Acharya has also left a message in the WhatsApp group of RSP lawmakers. “Interested colleagues who wish to go on the China visit, please put down your names,” one lawmaker quoted the message as saying. Only lawmakers from the ruling RSP will be in the team.
“A team of 18 to 20 people is going on a 10-day visit at the invitation of the Communist Party of China,” one lawmaker said. “Some names have been settled, but not everyone’s is final. The general secretary has asked each lawmaker.”
Nothing has been disclosed about political meetings that may take place during the visit. In the first week of Bhadra, preparations had been made for RSP chair Rabi Lamichhane to visit China. However, that was halted.
