Bhote Koshi Flood: 616 Bodies Recovered, 2,301 People Rescued

KATHMANDU – The death toll from flooding in the Bhote Koshi area of Rasuwa has reached 616, authorities confirmed.

According to figures released by Nepal Police as of 7 a.m. Saturday, the highest number of bodies recovered was in Chitwan district, where 233 people were found dead.

A total of 158 bodies were recovered in Nawalparasi East, 48 in Gorkha, 47 in Nawalparasi West, 45 in Dhading, 41 in Nuwakot, 31 in Tanahun and 13 in Rasuwa.

Twenty-seven police personnel remain out of contact because of the flooding.

A total of 4,811 police personnel have been deployed for rescue operations and security management in flood-hit and affected areas.

The number of people injured or rescued in the floods stands at 2,301. Of them, 676 are in Rasuwa, 1,622 in Nuwakot and three in Dhading.

Nepal Police said 140 injured people have either been receiving treatment or have been discharged after treatment from various hospitals in the Kathmandu Valley.
