Rohit Paudel Century Helps Nepal Beat Canada by 24 Runs in ICC Cricket World Cup League 2

KATHMANDU – Nepal defeated Canada by 24 runs in their first match of the ODI series being played in Oman under the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2.

In the match at Oman Cricket Academy Ministry Turf 1, Canada were bowled out for 211 in 48.4 overs while chasing a target of 236 set by Nepal.

Aaron Johnson top-scored for Canada with 44. Samit Gohel made 35, Akhil Kumar scored an unbeaten 30, and Shreyas Movva and captain Hamza Tariq scored 26 each.

Karan KC, Lalit Rajbanshi, Sandeep Lamichhane and Nandan Yadav took two wickets each for Nepal.

Nepal, who lost the toss and were asked to bat first, were bowled out for 235 in 50 overs, helped by a century from Rohit Paudel.

Paudel scored a team-high 101 off 127 balls, hitting eight fours and one six. Gulsan Jha played a cameo of 48 off 34 balls, and Arjun Kumal made 23.

For Canada, Akhil Kumar took four wickets, Sukhjinder Singh took three and Jahir Shirzad took two.

Oman beat Canada in the first match of the series. Nepal’s chance of finishing in the top four is now over, and the team’s focus will turn to retaining its ODI status.

After the win, Nepal moved up to sixth place in the League 2 table with 26 points from 33 matches. Canada dropped to seventh with 25 points from 34 matches.
