Drone Images Show Flood Devastation Across Rasuwa, Nuwakot

DHADING : Settlements along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers were going about their normal routines on Wednesday morning when a sudden flood swept through the area, destroying structures built over decades within seconds.

The flood swept away settlements and caused extensive loss of life and property.

Drone footage taken a few hours after the flood showed widespread destruction across the affected areas.

Floodwaters reached settlements as high as 270 feet above the river level. Houses were left damaged, while it remains unclear how many were swept away. Survivors have moved higher into the hills to seek shelter.

Some people are pleading for rescue from the rooftops of flooded homes. Many others are still waiting to be rescued as helicopters fly overhead.

The scenes stretch from the Rasuwagadhi border point to Bidur in Nuwakot. The flood that struck on Wednesday morning caused loss of life and property across the area.

Teams from the Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have been deployed for rescue operations. However, rescue efforts have been difficult because many areas across Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading have been affected.

Settlements appeared to be in ruins in flood-affected areas including Timure, Dhunche, Mailung, Syafrubesi and Betravati. The flood swept away hydropower infrastructure, while no trace of the customs office remained.
