‘Kaleji: Unko Sweater’ Begins Filming in Sikkim

KATHMANDU – Filming has begun in India’s Sikkim state for ‘Kaleji: Unko Sweater’, the sequel to last year’s commercially successful Nepali film ‘Unko Sweater.

The shoot began in Yumthang Valley, director Naveen Chauhan announced. The production opened with an auspicious ceremony featuring prayers and mantra chanting by local Buddhist lamas.

On the first day of filming on Monday, scenes featuring actors Piyush Mishra and Alex Paras were shot, Chauhan said.

The opening ceremony was attended by Tashi Chiring Bhutia, chairman of the Sikkim Film Board; Sanjay Dilpali Rai, chairman of the Cultural Board; an ADC, representatives of the Indian Army and local lamas. Chauhan expressed gratitude for their support and blessings.

The director said the sequel aims to expand the stories, characters and emotions that audiences connected with in Unko Sweater.

Alongside the stories of Kafle, Phool, Dambar and Ichchha, the new film will explore further dimensions of love, life and human emotion, according to Chauhan.

“Some stories remain, and some feelings are still waiting to be expressed,” he said.

The production plans to film across Nepal, Darjeeling, Sikkim and Delhi, taking the characters and stories associated with Woolen Sweater into new settings.

The film is being produced by Artmandu, with Chauhan handling both writing and direction. Abhishek Subedi is the co-writer and chief assistant director, while Chintan Rajbhandari is the cinematographer. The film’s music will be composed by Kovid Bajra.

The cast includes Bipin Karki, Miruna Magar, Piyush Mishra, Alex Paras, Pariksha Limbu, Teriya Magar, Suraj Tamu, Sharda Devi Silwal, Bhuvan Singh Rai and Rushma Rai, among others.

The release date for ‘Kaleji: Unko Sweater’ has not yet been announced.
