HETAUDA – Newly appointed Bagmati Province Chief Minister Kiran Thapa Magar took the oath of office and secrecy on Thursday.
Province Chief Deepak Prasad Devkota administered the oath to Chief Minister Thapa at a ceremony held at the Office of the Province Chief in Hetauda.
Thapa was appointed chief minister under Article 168, Sub-article (2) of the Constitution of Nepal.
He became chief minister with the support of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), Nepali Communist Party (NCP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).
Thapa has the backing of 63 members of the Provincial Assembly. He is supported by 25 provincial lawmakers from the UML, 26 from the NCP and 12 from the RPP.
