KATHMANDU: Australian cricket star David Warner arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday night to play in the Nepal Premier League (NPL).
Warner will represent Kathmandu Gorkhas in the tournament. The team is scheduled to face Karnali Yaks at 12:30 pm on Monday, and Warner could feature in the match.
The 39-year-old is among the prominent international players signed for this season’s NPL. He said he was excited to play in the tournament.
One of Australia’s most successful batters, Warner has scored 18,995 runs in international cricket, including 8,786 in Tests, 6,932 in One-Day Internationals and 3,277 in T20 Internationals.
He is among the Australian players to have scored centuries in all three international formats. In 2019, Warner scored an unbeaten 335 against Pakistan in a Test match, one of the highest individual scores in Test cricket.
