‘Chha Maya Chhapakkai 2’ Trailer Blends Comedy With Spirituality

KATHMANDU- Will God come to save a devotee in times of crisis, or must people fight their own battles? The trailer of Nepali film ‘Chha Maya Chhapakkai 2’ explores this question through a story that combines comedy, family expectations and spirituality.

Released at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, the trailer centres on Deepak Raj Giri’s character, a devotee of Lord Krishna who finds himself caught in a complicated personal situation.

The trailer opens with scenes of the Mahabharat war and Giri playing a flute. It begins with the famous line from the Hindu epic: “Yada yada hi dharmasya, glanir bhavati Bharata…” As villagers gather around a television to watch the Mahabharata serial, the story begins to unfold.

One of them is a character played by Rama Thapaliya. Influenced by the epic, she tells her son, played by Giri, that she wants a grandson.

Her wish sets the central conflict in motion. After learning that his wife, played by Keki Adhikari, cannot have a child, Giri’s character grows closer to Sanisha’s character.

As the story progresses, both female characters become pregnant, leaving the Krishna devotee entangled in an increasingly complicated situation. His efforts to fulfil his mother’s wish eventually push him to cross his own moral boundaries.

The trailer raises a central question: Will Lord Krishna descend from the world of the Mahabharata to rescue his devotee, caught in the complexities of modern life?

Through this conflict, the film brings religious beliefs and spiritual ideas into conversation with the dilemmas of contemporary life, using comedy as its narrative form.

Although the film appears comedic on the surface, the trailer suggests deeper questions about spirituality, morality and the limits of faith.

Chha Maya Chhapakkai 2 appears to take a different direction from its predecessor. While the earlier film combined romance and politics, the new instalment brings together love and spirituality.

Directed by Dipendra Lama, the film is produced by Rohit Adhikari, with Nirmal Sharma and Suraj Bam Thakuri serving as executive producers.

The film is scheduled for release on Saturday, October 17, coinciding with the Phulpati festival of Dashain.
