KATHMANDU- Nepali film ‘Kabaddi 5’ has made a strong opening at the domestic box office, drawing large audiences on Friday during the Dashain holiday period.
The film’s debut is among the strongest openings by a Nepali film in recent times, according to the report.
While the three films released earlier during the Dashain box office season had struggled to attract audiences, the film directed by Rambabu Gurung managed to bring large numbers of moviegoers to cinemas on Friday.
Released with more than 250 shows, ‘Kabaddi 5’ recorded high occupancy, with almost all evening shows running at near-full capacity.
Maniram Pokharel, one of the film’s producers, told journalists that the film could earn nearly Rs 20 million on its opening day. However, the figure has not been officially confirmed.
The Film Development Board is expected to release official box office figures only after 10 days.

The film has received a strong overall response from audiences. With the Dashain holiday continuing through Sunday, its box office performance could maintain the same momentum over the weekend.
Advance ticket sales for most shows scheduled for Saturday had also largely been completed by Friday.
The producers and cast members were busy visiting cinemas on Friday, interacting with audiences and collecting their feedback.
As the fifth installment in a popular film franchise, Kabaddi 5 had attracted considerable anticipation even before its release. That interest has been reflected in its strong opening weekend performance.
