Sonam Topden and Upasana Singh Thakuri Feature in ‘Jalaki’ Song ‘Pahilo Maya’

KATHMANDU: The upcoming Nepali film ‘Jalaki’ has released its romantic song ‘Pahilo Maya’ ahead of its theatrical release on November 20.

The song features music and composition by Sarit Rayan, lyrics by Ram Abiral Bista, and vocals by Rohit Sonar and Melina Rai.

The music video features the film’s lead cast, including Upasana Singh Thakuri, Sonam Topden, Shilpa Maskey, Raju Regmi Magar, Astitwa Bhattachan, Sahara Hangma Limbu and Deepika Magar.

Based on the love and attraction between two people, the song portrays a romantic relationship. Sonam Topden and Upasana Singh Thakuri appear as a couple in the video, alongside the other cast members.

Directed by Ashok Thapa Magar, known for ‘Khushma’, ‘Jalaki’ has previously released three songs: ‘Chandi Jalap’, ‘Jale Rumal Mayalai’ and ‘Kalejiko Chheu’. All three songs have received positive responses on social media platforms, including YouTube and TikTok.

‘Jalaki’ refers to a stone pillar regarded in the Magar community as a symbol of faith, memories and love. Director Thapa Magar said the film uses this cultural symbol as its central theme to tell a story incorporating the cultures, traditions and emotions of the Magar and Gurung communities.

The film features Upasana Singh Thakuri, Sonam Topden, Shilpa Maskey, Maotse Gurung, Buddhi Tamang, Astitwa Bhattachan, Sahara Hangma Limbu, Rajani Gurung, Raju Regmi Magar, Usha Khadgi, Khadak Bahadur Pun, Lunibha Tuladhar, Sangeeta Thapa, Karma Lama Tamang, Bhawana Magar, Raj Kaucha Magar and Duisang Thin.

Actor Vijay Lama appears in a special role. Child actors Munjan Thapa Magar, Nulamma Bantawa and Rinsi Dhanaha Magar are also part of the cast.

Produced under the banner of M Media Production, the film is produced by Om Gharti Magar, Bir Bahadur Lama, Chandra Bahadur Bhattachan, Betane Magar, Man Bahadur Dhanah Magar and Susmita Budhathoki.

Kafia Films, owned by Govinda Shahi, and Kuber Cine Distribution will distribute the film.
